“Okay, I just received my costume in the mail and I’m actually really happy with it.

Everyone complains about the hat. This is the hat. It’s actually fine. I just think it needs a little steaming or, you know, a cool iron to get back right, but I think I will be able to work with it.

This is the belt. You know, it’s just a cheap costume belt. It’s a little wrinkled so I will have to steam it. Here go the little sleeve things. They look like the picture, I guess.

Here is the bodice, which I think is the most important part of the costume. It looks just like the picture to me. I don’t know. Um, I did try it on. Everyone complained that it’s too short. I’m only 5’2, so it fit me fine. I won’t need to put anything on underneath it.

And finally, the skirt… oh sorry, that’s the back. This is the skirt, and it’s actually really cute. It is short, so, you know, be prepared for that. Go ahead and get your little tutu thing if you want that. You don’t need it, but I am going to buy one.

Okay, that’s it. That’s my review. Thumbs up… four out of five stars.”

Loved how comfortable this costume was! I’m a bigger girl at 5’9 and 200 lbs. I typically am a size 14/16. I was concerned about the length because Im taller than average, but the California Costumes women’s ruffled petticoat perfectly helped to provide a little more length. I did not care for the how the belt that comes with it looks so I did not use. The hat is soft and comes squished in the packaging, but was resolved using an iron over a towel to protect the material. Am very happy I went with this costume.

I wear a size 12-14/C cup and the XL is pretty snug on top. The skirt is very flexible so no problems there.

I see a lot of reviews about the hat. It’s cheap, if you put your iron on high and add some steam it fluffs up and the wrinkles come out. The feather comes in a little piece of paper, I almost thought it was a piece of trash had I not looked inside. If you’ve never worked with feathers, you would think it’s a loss, but it’s not. All you have to do is apply steam to the feather and it will fluff it up and straighten it out. Don’t put the iron on the feather, just put the feather in front of the steam (watch your hands!!). I do a lot of feather work with real feathers, it worked perfect on these.

I put a petty coat underneath (the fluffy underskirt) because the skirt is pretty flat without it. If your super curvy it wouldn’t need a petty coat.

I’m happy with my purchase.

Very cute Pirate costume. Fits perfect on me. I purchased the medium size and I am 5’3″ 145 lbs. My only complaint is that the top is loose in the front. It would fit better for girls that are small waisted and have large cups like D and up. A little loose if you’re a B cup girl. Otherwise looked great on me. I recommend this especially since it came with a lot of pieces for the price. Didn’t have to buy anything extra to make my costume look complete. Came with hat, skirt, top, sleeves, and belt. You could buy boots and a sword but it’s not really necessary. Great buy!

Overall, the costume was fantastic. I carefully read through others’ reviews before purchasing, so I already knew that the belt and the feather would be crap and not worth using. I ironed the entire costume on the low setting (for silks), and used a thin cloth when I ironed the hat to make sure I wouldn’t melt the material. I ordered the extra large, and am glad I didn’t try to get anything smaller. I usually wear size 14 – I am 5’4″, 190 lbs, size 40 DD chest. Very sexy, received compliments all night!

Great costume! I had to order a size down to get the costume in time, but it still fit. I definitely recommend getting a petticoat for underneath the skirt so you don’t accidentally flash people all night. Like others, the belt was weird and I didn’t wear it. Give the hat a couple days to fluff up and it will look good.

Cute costume. It was a little tight but because of my chest not because of the cut. I had to return it because the party was c ce,led but would have exchanged for a larger size if it had t been. Very cute. Petticoat would be nice addition to buy too.

This costume is so cute and fits really well. The material is thin enough to be breathable but still is opaque. Nothing was wrong with my costume upon initial inspection and try on. It has a zipper in the back that zips downwards which is super convenient for dressing yourself! I bought a petticoat for underneath and it makes the costume, in my opinion.

The skirt’s fabric is a bit thin, so heads up to anyone looking to keep warm on Halloween. I’m fairly small but have larger hips, so the corset was a touch snug around my waist, so heads up if you’re looking for a breathable middle.

If you do order this costume, I recommend spending some time ironing out the hat (on a VERY low setting, as the fabric will melt if it’s too high) as it does come folded up very tightly with the rest of the outfit. The buckles that hang down over the skirt are also very light (the buckles are plastic, so they have no real weight) so if you want those to look good I’d recommend straightening those out as well.

Overall, I was very happy though. It was a fun costume and for what you pay the details are pretty fun 🙂

This was the only pirate costume I liked from this year’s selection, and I tried many on at the Spirit store. As other people may have mentioned, the torso piece is a little short, but if you pull the skirt up to meet it there’s not a problem. It does make the skirt a little short, pretty much as in the picture, but a petticoat or even just another skirt underneath would fix it.

The hat is a little flimsy but once I steamed it the shape returned (and it looked waaaaay better). It fits my head pretty well, though the feather is bent. I also steamed the rest of the costume and it looks much better this way. Also the zipper on the back of the torso piece zips from top to bottom instead of the usual.

Also some people say that it does not make your breasts spill out, but in my case they kind of do (34DD).

Only other comment is that the laces do not go as high up as shown in the photo. It appears as if some of the top loops were taken off or never included to begin with. It looks fine, but does not go all the way up.
